From stomach churning to belle dancing!!!

Hi !
This time i really hit a writer's block. Seems like ages since i have been back on the blog. Quite a few things which has kept me away from it ...but i will not bore you with " all those things"...

I have been thinking of writing of my Dubai trip for quite sometime. Sutapa and I winged our way over to Dubai over the new year..and it was a very interesting trip, to put it mildly. We decided at the very last moment to go to Dubai and we landed there on the on the 27th December and what a trip it was .......Sutapa was all ready to shop..and when we "hit" the malls we realized that Dubai is costlier than shopping in the US :). Thank God for small mercies....

The best part of our trip...was the desert safari...thats what Sutapa feels , not me. Any one who goes to Dubai must experience this.... we have this SUV driven by Sehzad, a pakistani driver and 4 women plus me in the car.Everything was hunky dory till we hit the desert and Sehzad took each of the sand dunes the way the the Blueline bus drivers take the red lights in Delhi. We went over each of them as if we were on the F1 course ..and every dune made my stomach churn while the girls giggled. They had all the fun ..while i went blue in my face...till i reached the stage where i said ....enough of machoism..i need to puke :). After this torture drive we were dropped off at a camp in the desert for dinner..where we could smoke a hookah, and eat some exqusite kebabs...something more up to my liking than that dune bashing drives. The high point of the dinner was belle dancing...where we had a arabic beauty ( sic :) ) coming on the stage doing an hour of belle dancing...But for me the kebabs were more juicy than the belle!!!dancing

Coming back to the Dubai city..i was impressed with all the construction taking place in the city and oh BTW...the city police drives drive BMW and Mercedez Benz as patrol cars. And all of you who plan to be in Dubai must not miss the Ibn Batuta and the Dubai Malls...they are a real impressive piece of architecture in addition to the shopping fun.

Before i sign off...i must tell you about my new year eve experience. We went to this fine dining resturant..where they did not serve any liquor..and after many many years I had a new year eve dinner where I had Virgin Mary...and as the clock struck 12...no one hugged each other ..nor did any one kiss anyone...everyone just clapped and went back to their food. It was such a nice experience to get up on 1st Jan morning without a hangover. Insallah..wish i can do that every year....

Bye for now..and I will be back soon .

Keep smiling
Ramen
